Anthrax Inducted Into The 2019 Metal Hall Of Fame At Heavy Montreal

CLIFTON, NJ (July 25, 2019) –  Legendary New York band Anthrax, a member of The Big Four bands (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth) that pioneered the speed/thrash metal genre, was Inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame in front of 40,000 people at the Heavy Montreal music festival on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Metal Hall of Fame President/CEO Pat Gesualdo, and Jimmy Kay (Editor in Chief of The Metal Voice) inducted the band in a special induction ceremony at the festival.  

Metal Hall of Fame President/CEO Pat Gesualdo says, “We are looking forward to inducting Anthrax, one of the four bands to pioneer the speed/thrash metal genre, into the Metal Hall of Fame at Heavy Montreal.”

The Metal Hall of Fame “The most important night in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal,” is a non profit organization dedicated to enshrining iconic musicians and music industry executives who are responsible for making Hard Rock and Heavy Metal music what it is today.

Don Airey’s surprise Induction for Black Sabbath co-founding member Bill Ward (Especially after not seeing each other since recording together on Black Sabbath’s 1978 album “Never Say Die!). Inducting Anthrax at Heavy Montreal. Having Kathy and Kelle Rhoads Induct their brother Randy Rhoads. Having Wendy Dio Induct Ronnie James Dio. Slayer’s Kerri King surprise Induction for Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel for Metal Blade Record’s 35TH Anniversary. Having Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Geoff Tate, Chris Poland and Bjorn Englen perform in the most historical jam of all time. Having Paul Stanley Induct Kiss Manager Doc McGhee. Having Brian May of Queen Induct Joe Satriani. These are just some of the Legendary memories that the Metal Hall of Fame has shared with Heavy Metal fans throughout the world.

100% of the proceeds from our events goes to helping preserve Hard Rock and Heavy Metal for future generations, and our events also bring free music programs to help special needs children in hospitals and community centers. 

About Wacken Open Air

Wacken Open Air (W:O:A), is the world’s largest Heavy Metal music festival. Over 80,000 metal fans attend the Annual event. It takes place in the village of Wacken, in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. The festival was first held in 1990 as a small event for local German bands with about 800 fans. W:O:A is usually held at the beginning of August and lasts four days.
