Anthrax is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed in 1981. They are considered one of the “big four” of thrash metal, alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, known for their high-energy performances, innovative musical style, and fusion of different musical influences, including punk rock and hardcore. The band also broke new ground with their genre-crossing collaboration with the hip-hop group Public Enemy on the song “Bring the Noise” in 1991, helping to pioneer the rap metal genre. Anthrax continues to record and perform, maintaining a loyal fanbase and a significant influence in the metal community
