In a major lineup shift that reunites the band with its classic-era sound, thrash metal pioneers Exodus have parted ways with vocalist Rob Dukes and welcomed back longtime frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza.

The lineup change marks a significant moment for the veteran thrash outfit, as Steve Zetro Souza returns to the microphone for one of heavy metal's most influential acts. Souza previously fronted Exodus during some of the band's most celebrated periods, and his return signals a reconnection with the group's thrash metal roots.

Dukes had been handling vocal duties for Exodus, bringing his own distinctive style to the band's aggressive sound. The split represents a new chapter for both the vocalist and the band as they move forward on separate paths.

Thrash Metal Pioneers

Exodus stands as one of the founding architects of Bay Area thrash metal, helping to define the genre's sound and fury alongside peers like Metallica, Testament, and Death Angel. Formed in the early 1980s, the band became known for their blistering speed, technical precision, and uncompromising aggression.

The group's influence on heavy metal cannot be overstated. Their 1985 debut album "Bonded by Blood" remains a cornerstone of thrash metal, while subsequent releases cemented their reputation as relentless innovators who never softened their edge or compromised their vision.

As a Metal Hall of Fame inductee, Exodus has earned recognition for decades of contributions to heavy metal. The band's impact extends beyond their own discography—they helped launch the career of Metallica's Kirk Hammett, who was an early member, and influenced countless thrash and extreme metal bands that followed.

With Steve Zetro Souza back at the helm, Exodus enters a new phase that honors their legacy while moving forward. For fans of classic Bay Area thrash, the reunion represents a return to the sound that helped define an era of heavy metal history.
